Gakushi Gentatsu-The Musicians of Gentatsu

A long time ago,Fukui Prefecture was known as “Koshi no Kuni”,The Land Beyond”.
We wish to express to world the Koshi peoples`pride in our rich history,traditional　culture,bountiful nature and the beautiful sea that borders our land.
Near the end of 2005,many of the leading musicians of Fukui were brought together　to form”Gakushi Gentatsu”.
Our line up consists of an eclectic mix of instruments,including standard rock instruments such as electric guitar,bass and drums,traditional Japanese instruments such as shamisen,shakuhachi and tsuzumi,and ethnic instruments such as the udu drum,didgeridoo and kalimba.
Our challenge is to unite these disparate elements into a harmonic whole.
In our time together,"Gakushi Gentatsu" has had over 20 members from all over Fukui(ranging in age from 18 to 73).Because we have so many members,it's rate that we are all on stage together at the same time and there tends to be a slightly different line up at every gig.
Our first,self-titled album was independently released in Japan on April 8th,2006.
As a band we are actively performing all over Japan and in the future we hope to take our act to the world.
